Aubrey Wood in “Night of the Punks”

“I knew it! Demons hate jazz music.”

OK, I love horror and I love punk rock. I also love short films. So imagine my delight upon finding the short punk rock horror film Night of the Punks (2010) which is “a love letter to 1980’s splatterpunk cinema, echoing classics like The Return of the Living Dead, The Evil Dead and Night of the Demons.” This awesome film was directed by Dan Riesser for his own Irrational Films; written by Dan Riesser and Mike L. Kinshella; and stars Luke Edwards, Aubrey Wood, Nick Mundy, Mike L. Kinshella, John Bobek and Dominic Deleo.

Small town punk rockers THE BRAIN DEADS have their first out of town gig. But there are a few problems: The venue is deserted, the promoter is a creep, their bass player has gone missing, and the only kids in the audience appear to be bloodthirsty monsters from hell. It’s gonna take a lot more than a few power chords and teenage angst to survive this night.

Watch the film here …

This film works as the ’80s tribute it’s intended to be, but, for me , it’s a little more than just a gore-fest – it’s a kind of sweet little romance, too! I love the connection between grounded guitarist Kenny (Edwards) and The Brain Deads’ adorable merchandise girl Sarah (Wood). Sure, with a schlubby best friend in drummer Hooch (Mundy), it’s all very clichĂ©, but, it works because the characters, thanks to the actors, are likable; and likability goes a long way when you don’t have 90 minutes to develop a character.

I really liked that adorable merchandise girl Sarah! Aubrey Wood played Mina in 6 episodes of the 5th season of FX’s Justified. I never watched that series, but, I do like Timothy Olyphant. Aubrey Wood, according to IMDb, also appeared as “Cute Girl” on an episode of ABC’s sitcom The Middle and “Naked Girl” on an episode of Showtime’s crime drama Ray Donovan. She plays adorable, cute and naked!

Here’s some pics of the lovely Aubrey Wood

Did I really need to include the pic on the right? No. But, she looks great in a bikini, right?
