Nazis, Zombies… and Flying Sharks!

Sky Sharks [Facebook] is a German project currently being crowd-funded via Kickstarter (here). The campaign ends on Monday, June 15 and, if successful, the film, directed by Marc Fehse, will start shooting in January/February 2016 with a release planned in late 2016/early 2017.

Deep in the ice of the Antarctic, a team of geologists uncover an old Nazi laboratory, still intact, where dark experiments had occurred. Unwittingly the geologists unleash upon the world a top-secret experiment the Germans had been working on – modified sharks that are able to fly, whose riders are genetically mutated, undead super-humans. The only thing that can stop them, and possibly save the world, is a military task force called the “Dead Flesh Four“ – assembled from reanimated U.S. soldiers who fell in Vietnam.

Sky Sharks, in the extended teaser trailer (above), looks like Iron Sky (2012) meets Sharknado (2013) mixed with Flight of the Living Dead (2007)! Go fund this movie now! “Daddy, I saw a shark,” the little German girl tells her father in a scene reminiscent of the opening sequence of Sharknado 2 (2014) where Finn (Ian Ziering) sees a shark on the wing of the plane. That scene was, in fact, an homage to classic Twilight Zone episodes “Nightmare at 20,000 Feet” (1963) in which Bob Wilson (pre-Kirk William Shatner) sees a gremlin on the wing of a plane. Now, I can buy into flying sharks piloted by Nazi zombies, but I’m having a hard time believing that the airplane would still be flying so smoothly after that shark crashed through its nose! Sky Sharks is outrageous, action-packed and bloody! I love it, and I cannot wait to see the finished film! Late 2016/early 2017? Ugh!!

The extended trailer features Robert LaSardo, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, Lynn Lowry, Lar Park-Lincoln, Nick Principe, Michaela Schaffrath, and Micaela Schäfer.

“In a shark, no one can hear you scream.”
